Awardees are selected by the NDSU Career and Advising Center. Students nominate advisors and recipients are selected by a committee comprised of faculty, staff, and administrators from across campus. The honors are given to professional advisers who are committed to assisting students to reach their full potential.

Walswick advises students pursuing careers in medical laboratory science, radiologic sciences, and respiratory care.  She previously received a Dean’s Award for outstanding advising and also serves as an advisor for the Students of Allied Sciences organization.

Wyum assists students Human Development and Family Science. She previously received the Odney Excellence in Teaching Award in 2019 and the Mortar Board Preferred Professor Award in 2018.

The outstanding advising awards at NDSU recognize outstanding advising of undergraduates by faculty and by professional advisers who are committed to assisting students to reach their full potential.  Full time faculty, instructors, and lecturers who actively advise individual undergraduates are eligible for the Outstanding Faculty Adviser Award.  Professional advisers are eligible for the Outstanding Professional Adviser Award.

Advisors also assist students with campus resources, referrals, career planning, and campus policies and procedures.
