Ask Me

Who are your role models or inspiring folks?

All of those that I have learned from since I first started this profession. My educational and professional experiences have definitely shaped who I am today.

Outside of art and design fields, what inspires you?

Pursuing outdoor activities of all sorts. I’m an experiential learner, so I find personal inspiration in the day to day experiences of living, working and playing in Downtown Fargo.

What do you wish you had known when you started out as a student/in this field?

That you have to be self-motivating and practice good time management techniques. That learning is a never-ending process, whether you’re a design student or practicing professional.

What was your most memorable meal?

Lunch with the former Landscape Architecture Program Director who suggested I pursue teaching. I probably wouldn’t be at NDSU if not for his encouragement

In your office, you can only have three things, one book, one tool, and one picture. What would they be and why?

As related to Landscape Architecture, I would choose the book A Clearing In The Distance by Witold Rybczynski, an Architectural and Engineering scale and a picture of my classmates when I attended NDSU.
