ASME Student Section honored with the prestigious Student Section Achievement Award

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is one of the most influential organizations for mechanical engineers worldwide. ASME promotes the profession among engineering students by establishing Student Section Chapters in academic institutions across the globe. These student sections play a vital role in enriching the academic and professional lives of mechanical engineering students and enhancing campus engagement.

Beginning in the 2022–2023 fiscal year, ASME launched a new recognition program to celebrate the achievements of outstanding student sections around the world. The ASME Student Section at North Dakota State University (NDSU) was honored as one of the most active and impactful groups globally. It received the prestigious Student Section Achievement Award for both the 2023–2024 and 2024–2025 fiscal years.

As noted in the award letter: “The leadership team of the ASME North Dakota State University Student Section made efforts to follow procedures, stay in contact with ASME staff, and provide programs and activities helping students on campus. We continue to be impressed by your commitment, new ideas, and collaboration with other student leaders.” This recognition highlights the dedication of NDSU’s ASME student members—not only in advancing engineering education and professional development but also in their volunteer service to the community. The leadership team and members of ASME Student Chapter are proud of this achievement and remain committed to fostering innovation, leadership, and service through ASME. With continued support and collaboration, we look forward to empowering the next generation of mechanical engineers at NDSU and beyond.

The faculty advisor for the ASME Student Section at NDSU is Dr. Fardad Azarmi, a professor in the ME department.
