The NDSU Agricultural Risk Policy Center recently added Wuit Yi Lwin and Ming Wang to its team. Lwin will serve as a senior research economist and Wang will serves as a junior research economist.

Lwin’s research centers on international agricultural trade, market disruptions, and risk analysis. She has studied the effects of transboundary animal disease outbreaks on global soybean trade, as well as climate-related risks in livestock sector. Her expertise in price and demand system modeling contributes to a deeper understanding of how external shocks reshape agricultural systems and policies.

Lwin earned her doctorate in agricultural economics from Oklahoma State University and brings valuable international market insight to the ARPC’s interdisciplinary team.

Wang’s research focuses on the intersection of agricultural policy, environmental conservation, and international trade. Her recent work examines conservation programs’ effects on employment, land use and greenhouse gas mitigation, as well as how U.S. conservation policies influence global emissions. She combines economic modeling with biophysical approaches to assess farm-level policy impacts under climate stress.

She earned her doctorate in agricultural and resource economics from Colorado State University and joins ARPC with a commitment to advancing sustainable and resilient agricultural systems.
