NDSU’s Dinesh Katti inducted into 2026 Class of AIMBE College of Fellows

Dinesh R. Katti, professor in civil construction and environmental engineering at NDSU, has been inducted into the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering’s (AIMBE) College of Fellows.
“It is a great honor to be recognized as one of the leading medical and biological engineering researchers in the country,” Katti said. “It is also humbling because the advances made in this field profoundly impact the health and well-being of people globally, placing tremendous responsibility on the researchers.”
One of the highest professional distinctions, the top 2% of medical and biological engineers are elected to the AIMBE College of Fellows. The membership honors those who have made outstanding contributions to “engineering and medicine research, practice or education” and to “the pioneering of new and developing fields of technology, making major advancements in traditional fields of medical and biological engineering or developing/implementing innovative approaches to bioengineering education.”
Members are nominated, reviewed and elected by peers and members of the College of Fellows. Katti was selected “for integration of computational modeling and mechanics to elucidate structure-property relationships in biological materials and advocacy of mechanics of biomaterials.”
“This recognition speaks highly of our graduate and undergraduate students who have contributed to the advances and discoveries. I am excited that as a Fellow of AIMBE, I will be playing a role in advocacy of the field and research in general to our lawmakers and the public.”
Katti, along with 175 colleagues, was inducted into the AIMBE College of Fellows Class of 2026 on Monday, April 13, at the AIMBE Annual Event at the Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel in Arlington, Virginia.
AIMBE Fellows are among the most distinguished medical and biological engineers, including four Nobel Prize laureates and 27 Presidential Medal of Science and/or Technology and Innovation awardees. Additionally, 248 fellows have been inducted into the National Academy of Engineering, 120 inducted into the National Academy of Medicine and 56 inducted into the National Academy of Sciences.
