NDSU has largest on-campus enrollment in state of North Dakota per Business Insider

Global news brand Business Insider recently highlighted the largest college by on-campus enrollment in every state, with NDSU topping the list in North Dakota.
The list was compiled through reviewing data from the Department of Education’s Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System, removing online-only enrollment to better reflect the size of each college’s in-person student population.
Based on total enrollment numbers of 11,952 in 2024 and 8.82% of students enrolled exclusively in online courses, the majority of NDSU’s enrollment is on-campus with a total of 10,898 students.
“As a land-grant university, our success is measured not only by enrollment, but by the opportunities we create for students and the impact our graduates have on North Dakota and beyond,” said Seinquis Leinen, NDSU senior director of strategic enrollment management. “Students continue to choose NDSU because of the strength of our academic programs, the support they receive, and the outcomes they achieve. Those strengths, combined with our partnerships and continued investment in the student experience, position NDSU as a leader in higher education and workforce development.”
NDSU remains North Dakota’s largest university based on on-campus enrollment and continues to attract students seeking experiential learning, research opportunities and strong career outcomes. Overall, 95% of the Class of 2025 was employed or enrolled in graduate school within six months of graduation.
