NDSU earns 2026 Seal of Prevention for commitment to student well-being

NDSU has recently earned the 2026 Campus Prevention Network (CPN) Seal of Prevention from Vector, recognizing the university’s commitment to creating a safer, more welcoming campus community where students can thrive.
The Seal of Prevention represents the highest standard for digital prevention and well-being programming and recognizes institutions that make meaningful contributions to student success, campus climate and community well-being.
To earn the seal, an institution's comprehensive digital programming must span all five areas:
- Sexual assault prevention: High-quality digital education surrounding consent, bystander intervention and reporting mechanisms.
- Alcohol and other drug misuse: Evidence-based programs designed to mitigate the risks associated with substance abuse.
- Community skill-building: Training focused on active inclusion, communication and interpersonal problem-solving.
- Wellness and safety: Broader mental health awareness, suicide prevention and campus safety protocols.
- Athletics: Tailored safety and prevention benchmarks specific to student-athletes and athletic departments.
“NDSU has a long history of providing comprehensive health promotion education for our student body,” said Laura Oster-Aaland, Vice Provost for Student Affairs and Institutional Equity. “Receiving the Campus Prevention Network Seal of Approval is a welcome recognition of the work we’ve been doing for years related to sexual assault prevention, alcohol and other drug misuse prevention and other more tailored education to promote well-being. Moving some of this work into the online space provides ease of access for our students to these evidence-based trainings.”
The recognition also reinforces the role everyone at NDSU plays in building a supportive campus community. Through shared responsibility, proactive education and access to resources, NDSU continues working toward an environment where students feel a sense of belonging and are empowered to reach their full potential.
