Momentum is building in Fargo as the NDSU men’s and women’s basketball teams head to the Summit League Tournament as No. 1 seeds. After dominant victories over University of North Dakota on Feb. 28, both Bison squads secured historic milestones, major conference honors and prime positioning for a championship run in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

The men’s basketball team defeated UND 96-63, setting a regular season win record and a record attendance of 5,426 at the Scheel’s Arena. Trevian Carson was named to the All-Summit League first team, the All-Newcomer Team, and the All-Defensive Team. Damari Wheeler-Thomas was selected to the All-Summit League second team, Andy Stefonowicz earned honorable mention status and Noah Feddersen was voted the league's Sixth Man of the Year. Bison head coach David Richman was named Summit League Coach of the Year; the second time he has received the honor.

The Bison will be the No. 1 seed for the Summit League Tournament in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, this week, and will play the winner of No. 8 seed Oral Roberts and No. 9 seed Kansas City in the quarterfinals on Thursday, March 5, at 6 p.m.

The women’s basketball team also played against UND on Feb. 28, defeating the Fighting Hawks 95-70, securing its first outright Summit League regular season title in program history. Jory Collins earned his first Coach of the Year honor and the first in North Dakota State Division I history after guiding the Bison to their first Summit League regular season title.

Avery Koenen was named the Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year as well as earning a spot on the All-Summit League First Team and All-Defensive Team. Karrington Asp was tabbed the Sixth Woman of the Year and Freshman of the Year to go along with a spot on the All-Freshman Team. Marisa Frost and Jocelyn Schiller rounded out the group each earning a spot on the All-Summit League Second Team.
