Campus Veterans Day ceremony scheduled

The campus community is invited to attend a short ceremony on campus to commemorate Veterans Day. The ceremony, hosted by NDSU’s Veterans Alliance Organization (VALOR) and the Bison Student Veterans club, will take place on Thursday, Nov. 6 at 8:30 a.m. in the Memorial Union’s Ballroom B.
President David Cook is scheduled to deliver welcoming remarks. This year’s keynote speaker is Bryon Parman, U.S. Navy veteran and associate professor in NDSU’s Department of Agribusiness and Applied Economics.
In his Navy career, Parman deployed twice to the Mediterranean Sea and Persian Gulf area in the early years following the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. His military duties included maintaining missile and radar systems aboard surface ships, Maritime Interdiction operations and was certified as a Search-and-Rescue swimmer. At NDSU, he currently serves as the Agricultural Finance Specialist with NDSU Extension.
After remarks and if the weather allows, attendees will be invited to reassemble at the flag plaza outside the Memorial Union’s south entrance for a brief flag raising ceremony performed by cadets from NDSU’s Air Force ROTC honor guard.
Student musical soloists will include:
- National Anthem: Carlin Johnson, US Marine Corps veteran, and senior vocal music education major
- Sounding of Taps: Rylie Schick, junior instrumental music education major
