NDSU hosts 11th annual Chamber Music Festival

Celebrate the beginning of the school year with the NDSU Challey School of Music by attending four free chamber music performances on Aug. 25-28.

For over a decade, the NDSU Chamber Music Festival has featured a series of chamber music concerts that pair NDSU student musicians with professional musicians (including NDSU faculty) who have performed around the region and the world.

This year, guest artists include musicians from NDSU, the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra, the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, as well as special guest cellist Colin Carr, a faculty member at Stony Brook University and the Royal Academy of Music in London.

The NDSU Challey School of Music hosts instrumental chamber music at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 25 and 28 in Beckwith Recital Hall. There will also be an instrumental chamber music performance at noon on Aug. 28 at Plains Art Museum.

At 7:30 p.m. Aug. 26, NDSU music faculty members Kelly W. Burns (tenor) and Tyler Wottrich (piano) team up for a vocal chamber performance of Schubert’s deeply moving cycle, “Die Schöne Müllerin.”

Admission for all NDSU Chamber Music Festival events is free. Beckwith Recital Hall is in Challey Hall, formerly known as Reineke Fine Arts Center, on NDSU's campus at the corner of 12th Avenue North and Bolley Drive. Plains Art Museum is in downtown Fargo at 704 1st Avenue North.
