NDSU Libraries launches open access publishing fund

Funds are available on a first come, first served basis until exhausted each fall and spring semester.

The NDSU Libraries recently launched an Article Processing Charge Fund to support the publishing of open access journal articles.

NDSU faculty and graduate students co-authoring with faculty who wish to publish in an OA journal will now be able to apply for funds to reimburse their APC within three months of payment.

"Faculty have requested financial support for open access publishing for several years and the Libraries are excited to offer this highly requested service,” said Colleen Gordon, scholarly communication and institutional repository librarian. “APCs can be a major financial barrier to publishing open access, made even more difficult when grant funding agencies have open access publishing requirements. The positive impact on exposure and impact directly supports the promotion and tenure process.

“The APC Fund is a strategic investment into NDSU researchers, aligning with strategic goals to increase scholarly and creative activities and financial resources to support sustainable research growth with public impact."

Funds are available on a first come, first served basis until exhausted each fall and spring semester.
