NDSU’s Transition and Access Program has been named a contender for the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo Chamber of Commerce’s ChamberChoice Awards. The program is in the running for the People’s Choice Award, a category determined by public vote, and the Inclusion Champion of the Year award.

TAP at NDSU is an inclusive college program for students with disabilities. In an inclusive and supportive environment, students supported by the TAP program attend college courses with traditional NDSU students, earn meaningful credentials, gain employment and learn independent living and social skills. TAP’s goal is to make the dream of college a reality for students with intellectual disabilities and create quality futures for these individuals to live and work in their communities.

“Being nominated for Inclusion Champion of the Year is a great honor. The TAP program was created with the focus of inclusion and providing equal opportunities for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities,” said NDSU TAP director Molly McKinnon. “NDSU has been an amazing site for the Transition and Access Program. Students supported by TAP have been provided endless possibilities in academics, employment, independent living, and social activities. It takes a community to build inclusiveness and the faculty and staff at NDSU have been so welcoming. My heart is so full of joy and gratitude.”

The ChamberChoice Awards, an annual event recognizing excellence in the local business community, celebrates organizations making a significant impact in the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo area. This year’s ceremony is scheduled for May 15 at Delta by Marriott in Fargo, where winners will be announced live.

Voting for the People’s Choice Award is currently open and will close on Tuesday, March 11, at 11:59 p.m. Community members are encouraged to participate by casting their votes online at the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo Chamber of Commerce’s website.

The ChamberChoice Awards feature six categories: Inclusion Champion of the Year, Young Professionals Best Place to Work, Non-profit of the Year, Emerging Business of the Year, Small Business of the Year, and Business of the Year. The People’s Choice Award, a fan-favorite category, is open for public input and will be awarded based on the highest number of votes received.

A confidential committee is reviewing all applications, and finalists and winners will not be notified in advance. The Chamber has emphasized that it plays no role in the selection process to ensure fairness and integrity.

The ChamberChoice Awards event will follow a Spring Symphony theme, symbolizing the growth and harmony within the local business landscape. Attendees are encouraged to embrace the theme with floral prints and bright colors to celebrate the vibrancy of the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo community.

Doors will open at 2:30 p.m., with the awards program beginning at 3:00 p.m. and concluding with a social happy hour at 4:30 p.m.
