North Dakota Air National Guard and NDSU professional advisors meet to discuss better ways to serve students

NDSU professional advisors met with the North Dakota Air National Guard on Thursday, Jan. 9 to discuss how NDSU can better serve students who are currently guard members.

“We know that many of our students who are guard members may be part-time or full-time at NDANG while also being a full or part time student. We hope that as we deepen our understanding of each other, we can learn more ways that we might help each other,” said Sarah Crary, NDSU’s assistant director of online programs.

Advisors were able to learn more about the different jobs students have at the base, the demands of those jobs and some things to consider when working with these students.

Last year NDSU and the NDANG entered into a Memorandum of Agreement to better serve the research, service, educational and workforce needs of North Dakota. To strengthen the relationship, Crary said the NDANG has been invited to visit various departments across campus to help NDSU learn more about how to better serve them.

The NDANG met with the admissions team in November. Crary said several groups from NDSU have also visited the base to learn more about the various jobs students have at base.
