Northern Crops Institute conference scheduled

The Northern Crops Institute will be hosting the Next 5 Years Conference on Thursday, Sept. 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Sanctuary Events Center in Fargo. 

The Next Five Years is an executive conference focused on major shifts happening in the agricultural market place and how they will impact agriculture and consumers from the region to the international market place. The conference will feature four keynote speakers and a farmer panel with opportunities for networking, roundtable conversations, and Q&A throughout the day.

Individual registration is available for $250. Organizations also can purchase a table for eight attendees at a group discount for $1,250. There will be a reception after the conference has concluded for further networking opportunities. Jacob Shapiro, Partner and Director of Geopolitical Analysis at Cognitive Investments, will be returning as one of the keynote speakers. His presentation will be on “Geopolitics and its Impact on Agriculture.”

The other three keynote speakers include Ben Conner, Partner at DTB AgriTrade, who will be presenting on “Ag & International Trade: The Potential Impacts of the Next Presidential Election;” David Ripplinger, Associate Professor/Extension Bioproducts/Bioenergy Economist at NDSU, who will be presenting on “Carbon and Food: How Efforts to Address Climate Change are Permanently Changing the Economics of Agriculture and Food;” and Austin Vaillancourt, Senior Business Manager, Biofuels and Bioproducts at Verity Tracking, who will be presenting on “Carbon and Fuel.”

The Northern Crops Institute supports regional agriculture and value-added processing by conducting educational and technical programs that expand and maintain domestic and international markets for northern-grown crops.
