STEM Kids Camp hosts young innovators

Students in grades K-12 will ignite or fuel their passion for science, technology, engineering and math.

Students at STEM Kids Camp

From robotic life hacks to paper roller coasters, students across the region are diving into hands-on learning at the annual STEM Kids Camp hosted by NDSU’s College of Engineering.

This year’s camp, held July 21-24 at the A. Glenn Hill Center on the NDSU campus, features a variety of sessions designed to ignite curiosity and creativity in science, technology, engineering and math for students in grades K-12.

Among the featured classes is “Rockin’ Robots,” scheduled for Tuesday, July 22, from 1 to 4 p.m. Students will explore the basics of robotics using LEGO Spike Prime kits, designing, building and coding robots to tackle real-world challenges. Whether crafting solutions to everyday problems or mimicking complex human movements, participants will gain practical skills in engineering and problem solving.

On Wednesday, July 23, from 9 a.m. to noon, students in the “Intro to Roller Coasters” class will delve into physics by designing and constructing their own paper roller coasters.

The class introduces fundamental concepts like energy and motion while encouraging students to plan, design and innovate.

STEM Kids Camp offers both morning and afternoon sessions throughout the week. Camp topics this year also include Creative Computer Coding and DNA Detective, among others.

The A. Glenn Hill Center, located at 1306 Centennial Boulevard, is the hub for activities.
