NDSU Press announces new podcast

The NDSU Press has unveiled a new hourlong podcast to highlight its publications and authors. The podcast is available to stream or download at the NDSU Press website, Spotify and Google Podcasts.

The first episode features retired NDSU administrator Prakash Mathew, who wrote “We Are Called…To Do the Right Thing.” The book was published by NDSU Press in May 2021.

“At NDSU Press, we strive to have as much of a national presence in the publishing scene as possible,” said Suzzanne Kelley, NDSU Press editor-in-chief. “Bringing our authors to a national audience via our new podcast adds to our print, e-book and audio-book presence.”

The podcast is an internship project undertaken by NDSU Press graduate assistant Oliver Sime, who is the general manager of KNDS 96.3 FM, NDSU’s college radio station. He is working toward his master’s degree in history.

Sime conducted the interview with Mathew last summer using the station’s facilities.

“The meat and potatoes of the NDSU Press Podcast is interviews with our authors,” Sime said. “Thankfully, we have plenty of great authors who could easily fill an hour segment expanding on their projects, research and literary craft. I have a pretty busy schedule so finding time to read the author's book, record the episode, do some postproduction editing and distribute the episode can be a lot, but we hope to get an episode out each month.”

Graphics for the podcast were created by graphics artist Jamie Trosen, who does many of the cover designs for NDSU Press publications.
