NDSU Provost Margaret Fitzgerald announced two new faculty fellows in the Office of the Provost and Faculty Affairs. She announced the appointments Sept. 28.

Bradley Benton, associate professor of history, is the new faculty fellow for the Honors Program for the 2022-2023 academic year. Benton has been at NDSU since 2012.

“He brings an array of experience, leadership skills, student advising and curricular management to this position,” Fitzgerald said. “Dr. Benton’s appointment will include supporting current Honors students’ progress, coordinating Honors Program course offerings and exploring sustainable models for colleges interested in continuing an Honors Program in the future.”

Matthew Smith, associate professor of practice in the Department of Biological Sciences, has accepted the position of faculty fellow for designated scholarships. He joined NDSU in 2012.

“His past experience includes serving on several committees whose functions facilitated the awarding of scholarships. He is deeply committed to promoting scholarship opportunities to students and advocating for student success,” Fitzgerald said. “Dr. Smith’s appointment will include coordinating and encouraging university-level scholarship applications, including the prestigious Goldwater, Astronaut and Truman Scholarships.”
