The NDSU College of Business awarded $725,000 in scholarships for the 2022-2023 academic year, the largest amount in college history.

The announcement came as the college and the Sheila and Robert Challey Institute for Global Innovation and Growth held a recognition ceremony for scholarship recipients and donors Sept. 30 in the Louise S. Barry Auditorium.

“Just five years ago, we awarded roughly $90,000 to scholarship recipients in the College of Business – meaning we are awarding about eight times more in scholarship funds this year than we did five years ago. That is a truly remarkable achievement made possible by our generous donors,” said Alan Kallmeyer, Interim Ronald G. and Kaye S. Olson Dean of the College of Business.

The program first recognized students receiving the Olson/Challey First Generation Business Scholarship, which provides a one-time award to all incoming first-generation students enrolled in the College of Business. The scholarship is supported by the Ronald G. and Kaye S. Olson Deanship and the Sheila and Robert Challey Institute for Global Innovation and Growth.

Other scholarship recipients were selected by committees based on the donors’ scholarship criteria. Nearly 60 named scholarships have been established by benefactors for business students.

“For many students, this funding is critical in allowing them to pursue their dream of a college education,” said Kallmeyer. “We are incredibly grateful to our alumni and friends for their tremendous generosity and philanthropic support for student scholarships.”
