Women’s track and field trio earns academic honors

The North Dakota State women’s track and field team was represented by three Bison on the Summit League Academic All-League team for the 2023 outdoor season.

Grace Emineth, Nell Graham, and Alissa Melvin earned the honor by virtue of their athletic and academic achievements.

Emineth, from Fargo, owns a 3.78 cumulative GPA as a pharmacy major. She won the Summit League long jump title and placed third in the triple jump at the conference meet. Emineth also qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds in the long jump for the second consecutive year.

Graham, of Dodge Center, Minnesota, is majoring in business administration with a 3.88 cumulative GPA. She was named the Most Outstanding Performer of the 2023 Summit League Outdoor Championships as the top scorer among all women’s athletes with 26 points. She won conference titles in the heptathlon and 400m dash, as well as running on NDSU’s second-place 4x400m relay and taking fifth in the 400m hurdles.

Melvin, from Waterloo, Ontario, posted a 3.94 cumulative GPA as a political science major. She captured the Summit League championship in the triple jump and was the league’s top performer in the event this season.

To be eligible for The Summit League Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 (on a 4.00 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team’s competitions. The award is voted on by the institutions’ faculty athletic representatives and sports information directors.
