Men’s track and field team earns several academic awards

The NDSU men’s track and field team and nine of its individual student-athletes were honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association as All-Academic performers, the organization announced Thursday, July 13.
 
NDSU’s total of nine All-Academic individuals matched the second-most in school history.

As a team, the Bison men recorded a cumulative grade point average of 3.475 to earn the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award for the 18th consecutive season. A minimum team cumulative GPA of 3.00 is required for the award.                                     

Clayton Hannula, Matt Kraft, Cam Landis, Zach McGlynn, Trevor Otterdahl, Kaden Pastian, Benji Phillips, Levi Rockey, and Jacob Rodin were recognized as All-Academic individuals. Otterdahl was honored for the sixth straight year.

To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either of the following athletic standards: for the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 in a relay event on the official NCAA performance list; for the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships, including preliminary rounds.
