Jody Dewald serves as the Provost Budget Director at North Dakota State University. She first joined the Office of the Provost in 2012, where she has been responsible for strategic financial activities, including the oversight of financial reporting and budget management for the funding sources associated with the units reporting to the Provost. She has played a pivotal role in managing payroll and the financial resources needed for recruitment operations as well as creating customized financial reporting. She has also served on multiple committees as part of the Financial Transformation Leadership Team.

In her current role, she provides direct financial strategic support to the Provost and serves as the leader for all services provided by the academic Business Centers. She provides leadership, direction, and vision for operationalizing the strategic business functions and planning within the colleges or units. She supervises the academic Business Managers and manages high complexity budgeting and planning functions for the associated colleges and units. In addition, she works to facilitate continuous process improvement for business operations.

Jody earned a B.S. in Accounting from Minnesota State University Moorhead. She is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the State of North Dakota.

Before starting her career in higher education, Jody has previously worked in the private sector as a Finance Manager where she led the financial planning and forecasting process for a division with over 30 locations, managed a team of finance professionals, provided detailed financial reporting, and worked as a member of the senior leadership team to build effective business strategies. In that role, she also provided financial leadership and technical expertise during multiple integrations and reorganizations.
