Jolie Graybill

Dr. Jolie O. Graybill is Dean of Libraries at North Dakota State University, where she provides leadership for the university’s library system and its role in advancing student success, research, teaching, and engagement. Her career in higher education spans 20+ years, with experience across academic libraries and Cooperative Extension at five universities.

Prior to joining NDSU, Graybill served as Assistant Director with Minitex, a division of the University of Minnesota Libraries, where she led the Digital Initiatives & Metadata Education unit and the Minnesota Digital Library. Previously, she held two positions with the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Libraries, first as Multicultural Services Librarian and later as Image and Multimedia Collections Coordinator. At Northern Arizona University’s Cline Library, she served as an Academic Programs Librarian and Team Leader for the Social & Behavioral Sciences team.

Graybill began her higher education career in Cooperative Extension, serving as an educator with both the University of Minnesota and the University of Arizona. This breadth of experience across libraries, Extension, and collaborative organizations has shaped her commitment to student success, collaboration, innovation, and the evolving role of academic libraries within higher education.

Graybill holds a Ph.D. in Managerial Leadership in the Information Professions from Simmons University in Boston, Massachusetts; an M.A. in Library Science from the University of Arizona; an M.Ed. in Youth Development Leadership from the University of Minnesota; and a B.S. in Journalism from the University of Kansas.
