Four NDSU Advisors Recognized by NACADA

Four academic advisors in North Dakota State University’s Career and Advising Center were recognized this fall by NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising. Two received Region 6 Advising Excellence Awards and two were selected for NACADA event scholarships.

Academic Advisor Zane Voglewede received the Region 6 NACADA Advising Excellence Award in the New Advisor category. The award recognizes advisors early in their careers who show exceptional advising, strong student advocacy, effective communication and a commitment to student success.

Academic Advisor Bradley Jones received the Region 6 NACADA Advising Excellence Award in the Advisor category. That award recognizes advising professionals for their contributions to student success through strong advising practices, relationship-building, developmental advising and professional engagement.

Academic Advisor Kelly Monroe was selected for a 2026 NACADA Annual Conference Scholarship, which supports advising professionals attending NACADA’s Annual Conference and covers the cost of registration. Applications are scored by volunteer evaluators on professional growth, leadership and advising impact, and recipients are recognized at the conference awards ceremony.

Lead Academic Advisor Kaitlyn Alme-Hjelseth was selected for a 2027 Administrators’ Institute Scholarship, which covers registration for NACADA’s Administrators’ Institute. The scholarship goes to NACADA members who show a strong interest in becoming more involved with the association and demonstrate leadership potential within it, and applications are reviewed by members of the Administrators’ Institute Advisory Board.

NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising was chartered in 1979 and is headquartered at Kansas State University. The association has roughly 14,000 members organized across 10 regions, and it supports academic advising in higher education through its annual conference, regional conferences, institutes, journals and research funding. NDSU sits in Region 6, the North Central region, which covers Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territories.
