Mission

For NDSU students whose first language is not English, the English Language Program exists to improve their English language proficiency and academic skills, as well as develop the cultural competency needed for academic success.

About ELP

NDSU offers supportive English language study for non-native speakers. Courses focus on developing the academic language and skills necessary for success at NDSU.

The Program

Our program is housed in the Department of Spanish and Global Studies in Minard Hall. Our program has existed for 30 years, serving the English language learners at NDSU.

Our teachers are qualified professionals with experience in teaching language students. Many have had experience living and working abroad and have also learned second languages, making them sensitive to the needs of language learners.

ELP students use the excellent facilities of NDSU alongside other academic students. Classrooms are located on campus, all equipped with technology for remote attendance.

Located in Fargo, North Dakota, North Dakota State University is proud of its student focus. It is also a land grant university, known for its research activity. Once you arrive on campus, you will find that being “Bison Proud” is easy: In addition to excellent academic and fine arts offerings, NDSU athletics is strong. The Bison football team has won the NCAA Division I football national championship nine times since 2011.
