Strategic Planning
North Dakota State University is beginning the process of building a bold, campus-wide strategic plan that will guide our next chapter. This effort builds on the foundation of NDSU Transform, our strategic vision focused on student success, research excellence, community well-being and land-grant impact.
The resulting plan will shape NDSU’s priorities from 2026 through 2030, aligning efforts across academics, research, student experience, infrastructure and outreach. A finalized plan is expected in spring 2026.

Our Approach
NDSU is partnering with the University Design Institute (UDI), a global leader in higher education transformation. Together, we are engaging in a multi-phase process designed to move from ideas to implementation.
Imagine Phase: Listening and Learning
Beginning in early November, we’ll launch the Imagine Phase to listen, learn and gather insights from students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, employers and industry partners. Discovery sessions will invite the NDSU community to think creatively about our future: how we teach and learn, how we engage with partners and how we grow our research and impact.
Design Phase: Turning Ideas into Action
Next comes the Design Phase, where we’ll take the themes and ideas from the Imagine Phase and begin shaping implementation plans and transformation roadmaps. These tools will guide our efforts and help us move from vision to action.
