Animal Science Students Present & Place at WSASAS

Department of Animal Sciences students Jennifer Hurlbert and Isabella Jurgens both had presentations place in the Western Section American Society of Animal Sciences (WSASAS) meetings.

Jennifer received 1st place in the Graduate Student Research Competition Paper Presentation for her presentation entitled, “Impacts of Vitamin and Mineral Supplementation to Beef Heifers During Gestation on Performance Measures of the Neonatal Calf, Trace Mineral Status, and Organ Weights at 30 Hours After Birth”. Jennifer is advised by Dr. Carl Dahlen.

Isabella received 2nd place in the Undergraduate Research Poster competition for her poster entitled, “Nutrition During Early Pregnancy Impacts Offspring Ovarian Characteristics” Isabella is advised by Dr. Carl Dahlen.

Jennifer and Isabella’s combined efforts resulted in NDSU Animal Science Department receiving the WSASAS institutional award, which means the traveling trophy returns to the NDSU! Congratulations again to Jennifer and Isabella and the Animal Sciences Department.
