NDSU Extension to offer livestock sessions at Big Iron

Cattle production issues during a drought will highlight the North Dakota State University Extension Livestock Seminars at the Big Iron Farm and Construction Show in West Fargo, North Dakota, Sept. 15-17.

At 11 a.m. on Tuesday September 15, Karl Hoppe, livestock specialist at the CREC, will discuss feeding cattle after a drought and Mary Keena, nutrient management specialist at the CREC will discuss how to compost animals as a disposal method.

At 11 a.m. on Wednesday September 16, Dr. Jake Galbreath, NDSU Extension veterinarian, will provide an update on drought and cattle water quality and Tim Petry, NDSU Extension livestock marketing specialist, will provide comments on the current cattle market outlook.

The Livestock Seminars will be held indoors in the Ellingson Livestock Barn at Big Iron.

Additional NDSU Extension specialists will have exhibits at the east end of the Hartl Ag Building throughout the show.
