The Indigenous Community Healthcare Navigation Toolkit: Fargo-Moorhead Region was created to support Indigenous individuals, families, caregivers, Elders, advocates, and community members living in or traveling through the Fargo-Moorhead region.

Navigating healthcare systems can sometimes feel overwhelming. Understanding available resources, patient rights, insurance systems, referrals, and community support can make it easier to access care that respects your values, culture, and lived experiences.

This toolkit was developed to help community members:

  • Find healthcare and wellness resources
  • Understand patient rights and protections
  • Access Indigenous-centered services
  • Connect with cultural and traditional supports
  • Prepare for appointments and healthcare decisions
  • Advocate for themselves and their families

This toolkit recognizes that wellness extends beyond medical care. Healing is connected to culture, language, community, family, spirituality, and relationships.

We honor the knowledge, resilience, and strengths of Indigenous Peoples and Tribal Nations throughout this region.

How to use this toolkit
