Nobel at Noon event poster

January 29 | Noon - 1:30 p.m. | Barry Hall, Louise Auditorium

This event will feature four NDSU faculty members giving short presentations on the discoveries that led to Nobel Prizes being awarded in 2025, and their significance. A question-and-answer session with faculty, staff, and students will follow. Lunch will be served.

The event will be moderated by John Bitzan, Menard Family Director of the Challey Institute for Global Innovation and Growth.

Featured Panelists Include:

Nicholas Orlando, Research Specialist at the Challey Institute for Global Innovation and Growth

Nicholas will discuss the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel awarded to Joel Mokyr, Philippe Aghion, and Peter Howitt "for having identified the prerequisites for sustained growth through technological progress," and "for the theory of sustained growth through creative destruction."

Dr. Andrei Kryjevski, Associate Professor of Physics

Andrei will discuss the Nobel Prize in Physics awarded to John Clarke, Michel Devoret, and John Martinis "for the discovery of macroscopic quantum mechanical tunnelling and energy quantisation in an electric circuit."

Dr. Dmitri Kilin, Associate Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry

Dmitri will discuss the Nobel Prize in Chemistry awarded to Susumu Kitagawa, Richard Robson, and Omar Yaghi "for the development of metal-organic frameworks."

Dr. Glenn Dorsam, Professor of Microbiological Sciences

Glenn will discuss the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine awarded to Mary Brunkow, Frederick Ramsdell, and Shimon Sakaguchi "for their discoveries concerning peripheral immune tolerance."

Parking: Guests are encouraged to park in the Elim Lot. Free parking passes for the Elim Lot are available at the event check-in table for guests to campus, please request one if needed.

Join us for the AI Connect event on how artificial intelligence is reshaping the labor market and policy. Hear talks from Revana Sharfuddin and Will Rinehart, then a panel with industry insights from Microsoft. The event is free and open to all members of the NDSU community and the public. Light breakfast and lunch are provided.

Keynote speakers include: Mercatus Center's Revana Sharfuddin, AEI's Will Rinehart, and Microsoft's Taya Spelhaug.

With an inspiring personal story, and experiences as a soldier, corporate executive, investor, educator, and entrepreneur, Wade offers a unique perspective to NDSU students on the role of capitalism in society and how entrepreneurs can make a positive impact.

Wade T. Myers

Wade Myers is a serial entrepreneur, investor, author, and speaker that has founded, invested in, and been a director of 100+ startups and has completed scores of financing and M&A transactions. He is a general partner of the Eagle Venture Fund and multiple public equities and real estate funds. Wade’s entrepreneurial ventures include a tech-enabled investment bank, a SaaS-based big data company, a tech-enabled government services firm, and an Inc. 5000 SaaS-based property management firm. He also worked at the Boston Consulting Group and Mobil Corporation, and served as an Airborne Ranger in the US Army where he was a decorated veteran of the Gulf War. Wade is a Baker Scholar graduate of Harvard’s MBA program.
