Dedicated Faculty

The department has well-qualified and dedicated faculty. They are recognized nationally and internationally. All faculty members in the department have a doctoral degree. Many of them have professional licenses such as the Professional Engineer and/or the Certified Professional Constructor. Almost all classes are taught by full-time professors.

Flexible Curriculum

Our curriculum allows students flexibility in choosing courses that reflect their interests. Areas of specialization include geotechnical, structural, transportation, water resources and environmental engineering.

We also provide for 12 hours of technical electives and a senior design project. The technical electives allow students to take additional courses in the areas of engineering and construction in which they plan to practice professionally. Currently, there are 42 courses from which students may choose.

Student Groups

There are several student organizations in the department including: Associated General Contractors (AGC) of America, American Society of Civil Engineering, Engineers Without Borders, National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), and Steel Bridge Team.

Many of our student teams compete in and win national competitions. Our groups also help our students build strong industry connections that lead to internships, scholarships, coops and full-time jobs.
