Elevate Your Impact

The Master’s program is ideal for students pursuing a Ph.D. or careers in communication industries, with concentrations in organizational communication or media, technology, and society. Students planning doctoral study should choose the thesis track, which involves conducting original research. Those seeking a terminal Master’s can select the exam option. Interdisciplinary coursework and research are encouraged to enrich the graduate experience.

We receive some common questions from applicants. As you prepare your application, please review the frequently asked questions.

Our priority deadline for admission into our 2027-28 cohort is February 15. We will not be accepting students for a spring 2027 start.

Applicants do not need to email individual faculty members in our department to initiate a research or teaching assistantship. We make assistantship decisions when we review applications for admission into our program. All questions on your application should be directed to our Director of Graduate Studies, Dr. Justin Walden (whose email address is below).

Our Director of Graduate Studies will consult with our graduate committee on reviews of applications. The number of admitted students will be comparable with prior years, though this is subject to change based on university funding.
