The Banner Component is a great way to add interest to the top of the page. It's critical that these banners are landscape-oriented so choose wisely! You'll want an image that looks best spread across the entire top of the page. An image is required. If you do not want to use a Banner image, leave the banner off of the page entirely.

The component itself has a lot of options inside the UI that you choose to utilize or not, such as the title override or caption. Entering text in the title override field will remove the traditional H1 from the page and insert it into the Banner itself. Entering text in the caption field will add additional text (at body text size) inside the box that overlays the Banner image, as seen above in the Banner at the top of this page.

As you can see in the screenshot above, you will have the option to add an Action Button that would link you out to another page in the site. In this case, I have chosen not to add this button but there are many use cases where that would be helpful, such as a featured event or trying to drive someone further into your microsite.

You can also add a secondary link, select the height of the banner (narrow, medium, tall), and select whether the text overlay with title should appear on the left or the right of the image. This is a critical feature if the focal point of your banner image has a figure or other important feature on one side of the image you do not want to obscure.
