Admission Requirements
- Overall GPA of 3.0 at the time of application (3.0 GPA or higher maintained to start of program)
- The following courses must be completed with a letter grade of “C” or better earned and documented on official transcripts before the start of the program in the Summer.
- Human Anatomy and Lab 1 semester
- Human Physiology and Lab 1 semester
- General Physics 1 semester
- General Chemistry 1 semester
- Biomechanics and/or Kinesiology 1 semester
- Biology 1 semester
- Medical Terminology 1 semester
- Nutrition 1 semester
- Psychology 1 semester
- Writing Sample: Pitch the profession of athletic training as if you were speaking to a new student in the profession. Maximum word count: 300 words.
- At least two (2) letters of recommendation – at least one letter must be from an instructor/professor. They must testify to the student's integrity (i.e. professionalism, communication skills, work ethic).
- Documentation of a minimum of 20 hours of observation completed under the direct supervision of a BOC ATC® in an athletic training room setting. 20 hours must be completed within one (1) calendar year of application. The form can be found on the MATrg website. Submit the signed form under supplemental materials.
- Documentation of current CPR Training in one of the following:
- American Heart Association: BLS Healthcare Provider/BLS Provider
- American Red Cross: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
- American Red Cross: Basic Life Support of Healthcare Providers
Submit a copy of the certificate under supplemental materials.
- Application to NDSU Graduate School and $35 application fee.
- International students must meet the following English Language Test score requirements for HNES Graduate Programs: TOEFL (pbt): 600, TOEFL (ibt): 100, IELTS: 7, Academic PTE: 68
Application Process
- How to apply through ATCAS
- Students apply to the MATrg program through ATCAS. Application review begins on October 15 and continues until all positions are filled.
- Students follow the MATrg Plan of Study.
- Application consideration is a rolling admission process.
