Applicants are responsible for ensuring all components of the application are completed on time. It is recommended to apply by July 20 for Fall 2024 semester start. Applications will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. To be eligible for fall nursing program admission, the prerequisite courses must be completed by the end of summer semester, prior to the start of fall semester.

Application must be made to both NDSU and to NDSU School of Nursing if you are not a current NDSU student.

Apply For Education Incentives from Sanford Medical Center - Bismarck to invest in your NDSU Accelerated (Post-Baccalaureate) BSN degree

  • Two incentive payments of $13,000 for students who meet criteria* OR
  • $25,000 signing bonus upon successful completion of NDSU Accelerated BSN degree
  •  3-year commitment to joining the Sanford Medical Center - Bismarck nursing team

*Acceptance into the NDSU Accelerated (Post-Baccalaureate) BSN Program provides no guarantee of qualification for the financial resources option from Sanford Health Medical Center - Bismarck. Students must apply directly to Sanford Health Medical Center - Bismarck and must meet eligibility criteria for the nursing education incentive financial resources.

Application Timeline

  • July 20 – It is recommended to apply by July 20 for Fall 2024 semester start. Applications will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

    To be eligible for fall nursing program admission, the prerequisite courses must be completed by the end of summer semester, prior to the start of fall semester.

  • August 1 – Decisions sent via email

Accelerated (Post-Baccalaureate) BSN Admission Requirements

  • Apply and be admitted to North Dakota State University (NDSU).
  • Have a baccalaureate or graduate degree in a non-nursing major from a U.S. regionally accredited college or university.  The degree must be completed and verified via official transcript(s) prior to enrollment in the program.
  • Have a Cumulative GPA of a 2.75 or greater.
  • Complete the Accelerated (Post-Baccalaureate) BSN application form. (separate from the NDSU application).
  • Complete a Criminal Background Check (See College of Health Professions Policy 3.08).
    1. Fee paid by applicant via the school designated vendor
  • Per School of Nursing policy, all required nursing courses must be completed for a letter grade.
  • Included in this policy is the requirement that students applying to the School of Nursing must earn a letter grade on all courses required for admission and cannot use a pass/fail option (this policy excludes AP credits).

50.00 application capacity fee + $55.75 certified background check = $105.75

    Application Capacity Fee

    • A $50.00 application capacity fee is due upon submission of Nursing Major application. Credit/debit/checking account information can be used.
    • NDSU Nursing Bismarck - Application Capacity Fee

    Certified Background Check (fee of $55.75 may be subject to change)

    This fee is in addition to the program application fee.  The School of Nursing receives your background check once submitted.

    • Reservation fee: $100 reservation fee
      • This fee reserves your space in the class. 
      • This fee is nonrefundable. 
    • Fingerprinting and FBI Background Check
      • Costs may vary $45 - $50
    • Bison Card
      • If you currently have a Bison card, you do not need to submit a new picture. 
      • If you submit for a new card, you will be charged $20.00.
