Through multiple collaborations, I explore learning and teaching in undergraduate biology. Specifically, we are investigating systems thinking in biology, including how systems can organize biology curricula and how students develop as systems thinkers. A second research thread focuses on how alternative grading practices promote a growth mindset in students (and instructors!) while facilitating greater retention in STEM.
