I’m a plant breeder/geneticist focused on developing new/improved varieties of dry beans while also studying the genetic control of traits of agronomic/economic importance for the development of improved dry bean varieties. During my career, I’ve developed and released more than 20 cultivars and improved germplasm lines. Thanks to multiple collaborations with other research teams, we have developed molecular tools to aid/assist in the development of new varieties and to contribute to a better understanding of the genetic and physiological mechanisms behind some of these traits of interest such as seed yield and quality, disease resistance, abiotic stress tolerance, among others.
