Local students choose NDSU

For generations, students from Cass and Clay Counties have found more than a campus at NDSU, they’ve found a community.
Drawn by strong academics, countless student activities and the friendly energy of Fargo, NDSU students from local communities say their time here feels like much more than an education. It’s a place where ambition meets opportunity and where the campus and city grow together.
Founded in 1890 as a land-grant university, NDSU has deep roots in serving the people of North Dakota through innovation, research and hands-on learning. Today, it’s home to almost 12,000 students who come from across the nation and the world to study in one of the region’s top research universities.
From its historic buildings to its state-of-the-art laboratories, NDSU continues to honor its tradition of preparing students for meaningful careers while shaping the future of the state.
Fargo itself has grown alongside the university. Once a small town built around agriculture and the railroad, the city has evolved into a thriving hub of culture, technology and entrepreneurship.
Downtown Fargo offers music venues, art galleries and local restaurants that give students a taste of city life with the warmth of a close-knit community. With its welcoming people, active lifestyle and mix of opportunity and affordability, Fargo has earned national recognition as one of America’s best college towns.
Whether it’s studying under the fall colors near Minard Hall, cheering on the Bison football team at the Fargodome or grabbing coffee downtown, NDSU students describe their experience as one of connection to their studies, their peers and the place they now call home.

WHY NDSU?
I chose NDSU because it felt like the right fit for me. My parents went here, so I’ve always had a connection to the school. The NDSU Pharmacy program is incredible. I knew I’d be getting a solid education in a place that already felt like home. The colors are green and gold – why wouldn’t I pick it?!

WHY NDSU?
I chose NDSU because I like being close to home. For me, that means doing whatever I need to do at school then going back home to hang out with family.
DESCRIBE YOUR EXPERIENCE
My NDSU experience has been fun. I’ve met plenty of people, had plenty of laughs and made tons of memories in just my first couple of weeks.
WHAT STANDS OUT ABOUT NDSU?
The NDSU campus has so many spots to sit and chill or do homework. I like the view from the high rises and lounge stations placed around campus.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT FARGO?
The best thing about Fargo I’d say is how small it is. It’s fun to see people I know in random places. My favorite place to hang out is downtown Fargo with my friends. There’s a lot to see and eat at later times in the day.
