Your guide to fun in Fargo-Moorhead this summer

Summer in the Fargo-Moorhead area is filled with a variety of events, concerts and opportunities to explore the community.
Here are some highlights to add to your summer to-do list.

Attend a RedHawks Game
The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks play every summer at Newman Field, located on NDSU’s campus. Tickets are affordable, and the RedHawks host various events throughout their season, including a Fourth of July celebration with fireworks.

Check out local cultural events
Enjoy cultural food, music, artists and more at local cultural events, including the annual Scandinavian Festival scheduled for June 19-20 at the Hjemkomst Center and Viking Ship Park just across the river in Moorhead.

Experience whimsical fun at the Folkways Night Bazaar
The Folkways Night Bazaar is a one-of-a-kind evening street market that puts magic and whimsy on center stage. Be sure to check out the unique vendors, street food, art and entertainment on June 25, July 30 and Aug. 20, at Broadway Square downtown.
Visit the Red River Valley Fair
Slated for July 3-12, you won’t want to miss the annual Red River Valley Fair. From your traditional fair food and carnival rides to a line-up of live music, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. The fair also celebrates agriculture in the Red River Valley by hosting several livestock competitions and exhibits that NDSU is involved in.

Watch live horse racing
The North Dakota Horse Park holds horse racing starting July 10 through early August. See what makes this the region’s most unexpected summer tradition, and enjoy local food vendors while you watch the races.

Shop local at the Red River Market
If you’re looking to find locally grown produce, baked goods and more, the Red River Market is just the place. Held every Saturday from July 11 to Oct. 31, the Red River Market hosts many vendors and food trucks to check out.

Stop by the Downtown Fargo Street Fair
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Downtown Fargo Street Fair, which brings hundreds of arts, crafts and food vendors to Fargo. Make sure to check out everything the street fair has to offer from July 16-18.

Enjoy live music at the Fargo Blues Festival
Whether you’re a fan of blues music, or you’re looking for a fun outdoor concert, the Fargo Blues Festival features 12 bands over two days at Newman Field from July 24-25.

Explore the Fargo-Moorhead parks
The Fargo-Moorhead area is home to several parks, each one a unique place to explore the outdoors. Be sure to stop by each park in the FM area as each one offers something different, ranging from bike trails to pickleball courts and outdoor swimming pools.

View local art at the Plains Art Museum
Located in downtown Fargo, the Plains Art Museum is the perfect place to escape the heat during the summer months and support local art. Admission is free and the museum frequently brings in new exhibitions.
