Upward Bound Staff

Program Director

My name is C. Hope Shields, and I am honored to serve as the Director for TRIO Upward Bound. I am originally from the south suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, and have called the Fargo/Moorhead area home since 2012 after moving from Memphis, TN. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working with F/M area youth and building lasting connections within the community.

I recently earned my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, a milestone that has deepened my commitment to student success and strengthened my ability to serve. I have been involved with TRIO programs for over three years, and during that time, I’ve seen firsthand the power these programs have to change lives. TRIO allows me to inspire and support future leaders, while also reminding students of their limitless potential.

Outside of work, my husband and I stay busy raising our two wonderful children who keep us on our toes and bring so much joy to our lives.

I am passionate about encouraging every student to reach higher, push past challenges, and discover what they are truly capable of achieving. Watching them succeed is the most rewarding part of what I do.
