Timeline for NCAA Eligibility per year and semester:

Year Fall Spring
1st Year
  • Meet initial eligibility standards

  • Pass 6 credits (9 for football)

    NOTE*
    Must pass 24 credits over the year
  • Pass 6 credits
  • Achieve a 1.8 cumulative GPA
  • NDSU GPA 2.0 to be in good academic standing
    (summer can help for 6 credits)
2nd Year
  • Pass 6 credits (9 for football)
  • Achieve a 1.8 cumulative GPA

  • NDSU GPA 2.0 to be in good academic standing

    NOTE*

  • Must pass 18 credits over the year
  • Pass 6 credits (9 for football)
  • Achieve a 1.8 cumulative GPA
  • NDSU GPA 2.0 to be in good academic standing
    (summer cannot help)
3rd Year
  • Pass 6 credits (9 for football)
  • Achieve a 1.9 cumulative GPA
  • NDSU GPA 2.0 to be in good academic standing
    NOTE*

  • Achieve a 1.9 cumulative GPA
  • Complete 60% of credits required for your degree

4th Year
  • Pass 6 credits (9 for football)
  • Achieve a 2.0 cumulative GPA

  • NDSU GPA 2.0 to be in good academic standing

  • Must pass 18 credits over the year
  • Pass 6 credits
  • Achieve a 2.0 cumulative GPA
  • Complete 80% of credits required for your degree
  • Apply for 5th year aid (if eligible)
  • Apply for NCAA Post Graduate Scholarships (if eligible)

5th Year
  • Pass 6 credits (9 for football)
  • Achieve a 2.0 cumulative GPA
  • NDSU GPA 2.0 to be in good academic standing
    NOTE*

  • Achieve a 2.0 cumulative GPA
  • Graduate!
  • Apply for NCAA Post Graduate Scholarships (if eligible)
