The Bowsher and Greenlee Labs in the Department of Biological Sciences are excited to invite applications for undergraduate research positions during summer 2024. Students will assist with projects investigating the development and health of agriculturally-beneficial bee pollinators (blue orchard mason bees, Osmia lignaria; alfalfa leafcutting bees, Megachile rotundata; and honey bees, Apis mellifera). Students will conduct research in one of the following areas:

  1. Gene expression and hormonal physiology of bees during development. Research will be primarily lab-based and involve molecular techniques.
  2. Bee behavior, performance and reproduction. Research will be lab- and field-based.

Students will contribute to an active research group of insect biologists at NDSU and the USDA Agricultural Research Service in Fargo. Students will participate in weekly professional development activities, and social events including BBQs, game nights, and local outings with other researchers and mentors. At the end of the 10 week program, students will present research posters at the NDSU Undergraduate Research Symposium.

Students from underrepresented groups, Tribal Colleges, and primarily undergraduate institutions are particularly encouraged to apply.
Applicants must be US citizens.
