Standard Pre-Licensure BSN Nursing Application

The standard admission application is open will be open in February for both the Bismark and Fargo sites. 

Applications for Bismarck are accepted on a rolling basis, however preference will be given to those submitted by April 20,2024.

Applications for Fargo are due April 20, 2024 for both fall and spring start.

**Updated regarding admission requirements: 

  • Per School of Nursing policy, all required nursing courses must be completed for a letter grade.
  • Included in this policy is the requirement that students applying to the School of Nursing must earn a letter grade on all courses required for admission and cannot use a pass/fail option (this policy excludes AP credits).
  • If an applicant has questions about the policy or questions and/or concerns about their grades, they are encouraged to contact the School of Nursing, ndsu.nursing@ndsu.edu for Fargo and Tammy Heupel in Bismarck.

  • April/May – Virtual question responses via Flip
  • May – Kaplan Nursing Admissions Test 
  • June – Decisions and notification sent via email

Summary of Costs

Application

  • Kaplan Nursing Admission Test
    • Instructions regarding registration and payment ($50) will be sent to applicants via email
    • Will be completed via Examity/Meazure Learning, which is an online proctor (fee $29)

If offered admission, the following costs must be submitted before starting professional nursing coursework:

  • Certified Background Check: $55.75 (fee is subject to change)
  • Reservation fee: $100 reservation fee
    • This fee reserves your space in the class. 
    • This fee is nonrefundable. 
  • Fingerprinting and FBI Background Check at orientation
    • Costs vary per site between $30-$45, depending on services required
  • Bison Card
    • If you currently have a Bison card, you do not need to submit a new picture. 
    • If you submit for a new card, you will be charged $20.00.
