Move-in Day Time Slots
NDSU move-in day is Saturday, August 24 from 8am - 1pm. To help ease traffic concerns and create a smooth move-in experience, students will select a 30-minute arrival time slot for move-in. Please note that you are expected to arrive anytime within that 30-minute timeframe; you are not expected to completely move in your belongings during that time frame.
If you are a member of a campus group that requires early move-in (Band, Athletics, International Students, campus employees, etc.), your arrival is being scheduled by your group sponsor/coach/supervisor. You should not use the housing portal to select a time slot.

Selection will become available on Monday, July 15 and will close Monday, August 19. Students should login to their housing portal and select their preferred time slot. If you need to cancel or change your move-in time slot, login to your housing portal and select a new time.

FAQs
Who needs to sign up for an arrival time? Any new incoming first-year student, or new transfer student, who is not part of a designated early arrival group will sign up for a move-in time slot for August 24.
What is a "designated early arrival group?" Certain groups have a coordinated early move-in day, such as band members, athletes, and on-campus student workers. If you are part of one of these groups, reach out to your coach/supervisor to get details.
Why are students selecting a particular arrival time? To increase efficiency on move-in day, students will spread out their arrival times over four hours. It is much simpler to have 25 students arrive in 30 minute increments than it is to have 200 students show up at the same time.
Where/when do I sign up for a time slot? Starting Monday, July 15, students will be able to log into their housing portal and select their arrival time slots.
What are the available time slots? Students may choose to arrive in one of nine time slots:
8:00am to 8:29am, 8:30am to 8:59am, 9:00am to 9:29am and so on. The last selection time will be at 12:00pm.
Do students have to arrive right at the beginning of their slot? No. Students can arrive any time during the selected time slot. They have a full 30-minute window in which they may arrive on campus.
What about unpacking? Does a student need to be fully unpacked by the end of their selected time slot? Not at all. The selected time slot is a window of arrival time. Students may take as long as needed to complete the move-in process.
What if a student signs up for a time, but later needs to change it? Students may change their selected time (based on availability) up through Friday, August 23. Times are not changeable once move-in day arrives.
I really need a particular time slot, but don’t see it listed in the dropdown menu. What can I do? Once all openings in a particular time slot fill, it will no longer be visible in the dropdown menu. However, since students are free to make changes up through the day before arrival, a time slot that is currently full can may have openings later due to students switching their arrival times. Students are welcome to check back in their housing portal any time to see if a space in a preferred time slot is available.
What if a student has a delay and doesn't arrive before their selected time slot ends? No worries. Life happens. If someone doesn’t get to campus during their selected time, it’s perfectly fine to arrive later. Students who arrive late will not be turned away.
