NDSU Staff Recognition Awards
The NDSU Staff Recognition Awards celebrate outstanding contributions by staff who support the university’s mission as a student-focused, land-grant research institution.
Award Categories
Individual Staff Awards
Up to 10 awards are presented annually across the following staff categories:
- Administrative/Professional (1000 and 3000)
- Technical/Paraprofessional Individual (4000)
- Office Support (5000)
- Crafts/Trades (6000)
- Services (7000)
Each recipient receives a cash award of $250.
Team Awards
The Team Award recognizes a group whose collaboration led to a significant benefit or positive change for NDSU.
- Teams must include 2–10 members
- May include both broadbanded and non-broadbanded staff
- Only broadbanded NDSU employees are eligible for the monetary award
- Teams may be part of larger initiatives (e.g., NDUS), but the impact must be NDSU-related
The team receives a cash reward of $600, divided equally (maximum $250 per individual).
Eligibility
Individuals nominated must be:
- Broadbanded staff
- Employed at least 50% time
- Active NDSU employees at the time of nomination
Who Can Nominate
Any NDSU employee may submit a nomination. Self-nominations are not permitted.

Selection Criteria
Nominations are reviewed by a committee and evaluated based on the following:
- Performance & Impact
- Demonstrates outstanding job performance
- Produces high-quality work consistently
- Goes above and beyond job expectations
- Improves processes, efficiency, or resource use
- Service & Contribution
- Provides exceptional service to students, colleagues, or visitors
- Supports the NDSU mission
- Contributes to committees, projects, or initiatives
- Collaboration & Work Environment
- Supports a positive, team-oriented environment
- Assists others beyond job requirements
- Builds strong working relationships
- Community & Professional Involvement
- Participates in professional organizations
- Engages in volunteer or community service
Team Award Criteria (Additional Focus)
- Demonstrates strong collaboration and shared success
- Develops innovative approaches that improve services
- Enhances efficiency and reduces time or resource use
- Provides outstanding service across departments or to the public
