In 2021, WREC replaced the original seed plant that was built in 1954 with a larger capacity operation with new technology for higher purity seed and more diverse crops. This new facility with our seed-increase program will help producers obtain newer varieties of seed in larger quantities. The WREC plays a key role in the production and distribution of new and adapted varieties of foundation seed to the growers of the MonDak region. The WREC collaborates with plant breeders from NDSU and Montana State University to research and advance these seed varieties in our fields.
