Hello campers and parents,
I’m very sorry to share that Creative Writing Camp will be canceled this summer.
Eight years ago, I started this camp to give creative kids a place to meet like-minded people, find their voices, and express themselves. Watching it grow from 13 campers to more than 100 last summer has been one of the great joys of my life.
I want to be transparent about why this is happening. Over Christmas, I was hospitalized for four days with severe COVID and brain swelling. I’m grateful there is no permanent brain damage, but I am dealing with significant cognitive effects (“COVID brain”) and will need time, therapy, and patience to recover. Because I am currently unable to work and focusing on healing, I can’t give camp the quality experience it deserves this year. I had hoped for a miracle recovery, but right now my health has to come first.
Campers, please know how much you mean to me. If you’d like to share writing you’re proud of over the summer, I would love to hear from you. Most importantly, camp WILL be back next summer.
Thank you for your understanding, support, and belief in this camp. Please keep writing and creating. ❤️
