One program, two sites

The professional and graduate nursing programs are offered at the NDSU Fargo campus and NDSU Nursing at Sanford Health in Bismarck. Once you graduate, you are are eligible to apply for the national licensing examination (NCLEX) to become a registered nurse (RN). Students in the professional courses are exposed to a variety of clinical settings such as acute and long term care, pediatrics, public health, emergency room, critical care, labor and delivery as well as mental health.

Faculty and facilities

At NDSU Fargo campus, department and faculty offices are located at the Aldevron Tower in the heart of campus. The majority of classes and laboratories are held at Aldevron Tower and the adjoining Sudro Hall. At the Bismarck site, department offices, faculty offices and classrooms are located on the Sanford Health campus. A nursing skills laboratory, assessment laboratory and simulation center are maintained at both sites to enhance student learning.

The Fargo-Moorhead and Bismarck communities provide a rich source of health care facilities, which are utilized by the nursing program.

Faculty members are experts in their specialized areas and assist students with learning in both classroom and clinical settings.

The baccalaureate degree in nursing at North Dakota State University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (http://www.ccneaccreditation.org).

Admission Processes

A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is offered as a two-phase program consisting of a pre-professional program and a professional program. The professional program is offered at the NDSU Fargo campus and NDSU Nursing at Sanford Health in Bismarck. Once you graduate, you are are eligible to apply for the national licensing examination (NCLEX) to become a registered nurse (RN). Students in the professional courses are exposed to a variety of clinical settings such as acute and long term care, pediatrics, public health, emergency room, critical care, labor and delivery as well as mental health.

This BSN program from NDSU helps you gain necessary knowledge and skills in a shorter amount of time, as compared to traditional BSN programs. Complete the program in approximately 14.5 consecutive months.

If you are a licensed practical (vocational) nurse with a diploma, certificate, or an associate degree in nursing and want to expand your career, NDSU's program can help you find your path.

This 100 percent online RN to BSN program joins the other nursing programs as a high-quality, meaningful way to earn your BSN. Courses have been constructed that will not require repetition of what you have previously learned. Students enter the RN to BSN program with education and nursing experience.

To further your career, the NDSU Doctor of Nursing Practice degree prepares you to become certified and licensed to provide advanced nursing care as a family nurse practitioner.

NDSU’s program provides you an on-campus opportunity to personally interact with graduate faculty with clinical and research expertise. We focus on face-to-face instruction, with synchronous classes offered between Fargo and Bismarck sites.
