Dr. Newman is a pediatrician at Sanford Health, the County Health Officer at Fargo Cass Public Health, and is an elected official on the Board of Education for the Fargo Public Schools. She has a strong interest in public health and vaccines and travels the state giving talks at clinics regarding vaccine safety and efficacy. She also serves as associate professor of medicine at the University of North Dakota, School of Medicine. Dr. Newman is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and was just elected to the National Council on School Health Executive Committee.
