The Department of Public Health is committed to providing enrolled MPH students with graduate assistantships that are meaningful, educational, and align with students' career goals. While positions are limited, we encourage all interested MPH students to apply.
Open Graduate Assistant Positions:
- Graduate Assistant - BeYou L+ Health (2 positions) - 10-20 hrs/wk - Travel required
General Information - The BeYou L+ Health project is focused on surveying the LBGTQS+ population related to HIV/STIs, COVID, access to care, and other health-related issues.
Two Graduate Assistants (GAs) will work with the principal investigator (Dr. Johnson) on development and implementation of a health survey. Activities include finalizing the survey instrument and sampling plan, administering the survey at 4 Pride events (1 each in Fargo, Grand Forks, Bismarck, and Minot), cleaning and conducting preliminary analysis, and other duties as assigned.

- Graduate Research Assistant - Mental Disorder Epidemiology Research Program - 20 hrs/wk - Remote* Work Possible
General Information - The Mental Disorder Epidemiology (MDE) research program is focused on understanding the distributions, determinants, and consequences of mental disorders. Our program views mental illness as a chronic illness that can be addressed through prevention, intervention, treatment, and management.
The GA will work with MDE investigators on research related to mental disorders. This includes literature search and literature review, data analysis, development of presentations and publications, and other related duties as assigned.

NOTE: If you are granted a tuition waiver, the waiver will only cover base tuition. The waiver does not cover the difference between the differential tuition charged for the MPH program and base tuition. You will be responsible for paying this difference even if you receive a tuition waiver. In general, the waiver covers approximately 45 percent of the tuition charged for the MPH program and you are responsible for paying the remaining 55 percent of the tuition.
