The featured speaker during Public Health Week activities at NDSU from April 3 to 6 focuses on prioritizing women’s health through outdoor activities. Author Dineo Dowd’s talk titled “Nature as a medicine” is being held on Thursday, April 6 at 10:30 a.m. in the Memorial Union Nueta Room, as part of the Mary J. Berg Lecture in Women’s Health during Public Health Week.
Selected as one of Wisconsin’s most influential Black leaders in 2021, Dowd draws upon her experiences and love for nature to inspire people from all backgrounds to embrace the outdoors and pursue healthy lifestyles.
As a South African native, Dowd’s outdoor experiences fuel her passion to encourage women to explore the outdoors and find their sense of adventure. As an avid mountaineer, author, and speaker, Dowd has made it her mission to break down barriers and empower women to prioritize their health and well-being through outdoor activities and the transformative power of nature.
